Logansport, IN – A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of US35 and Delaware Road in Cass County sent four people to the hospital Sunday night, including one man who was airlifted with serious injuries.

According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, emergency crews were called at approximately 8:22 p.m. on October 12, 2025, after a Nissan passenger car driven by Michael Acosta, 24, of Logansport, allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign. His vehicle was struck by a northbound 1995 Chevrolet truck driven by Catherine Gruszczyk, 36, of Royal Center, who had two passengers—a 39-year-old man and a 3-month-old infant.

Both vehicles rolled over after impact, trapping the occupants. Fire crews from Cass County Fire District #1 and Logansport Fire Department extricated those inside. Acosta was transported by Cass EMS to Parkview Logansport, then flown by Samaritan helicopter to Parkview Fort Wayne with life-threatening injuries. Gruszczyk and her passengers were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Deputy Bryce Hamilton is leading the investigation, assisted by multiple local agencies and crash reconstructionists. The roadway was closed for about two hours. Sheriff Edward Schroder’s office said the crash remains under investigation pending toxicology results.
