Bourbonnais Teen killed after chase ends in fatal crash at Indiana Stadium

BOURBONNAIS – A local teen has died after a chase Thursday ended in a fatal crash that sent his car airborne into a stadium.

According to Indiana State Police, it happened around 8 p.m. Thursday night in Michigan City when a car driven by 18-year-old Grant J. Grable was observed allegedly driving on the wrong side of the road.  When officers attempted to stop Grable’s vehicle, he continued on at a low rate of speed before later taking off near the intersection of Skwiat Legion Ave.

Grable’s car failed to stop at the intersection and hit a a concrete barrier at Ames Field, sending the vehicle airborne.  The vehicle proceeded to go through a brick wall and was finally stopped under the bleachers of the field. 

Grable was pronounced dead at the scene by LaPorte County Coroner’s Office after being extracted from the vehicle.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing with Indiana State Police under request of the Michigan City Police Department.
