Wilmington Man wanted in Statewide Gaming Ring Case arrested in ditch near Aldi

MORRIS – A Wilmington man wanted in connection to a Statewide Gaming Ring case announced by Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul was arrested Monday night.

Attorney General Raoul reported Friday members of the alleged ring stole approximately $400,000 from video gaming machines throughout Illinois.

According to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department they received word Lucas Bailey, 40 of Wilmington, was in the area.  Bailey was wanted by Lake, Will, and Dupage County on warrants surrounding the case.

Bailey was spotted near Route 6 and Route 47 by an active officer.  According to reports, Bailey drove into an Aldi parking lot and exited his vehicle to opt instead to hide in thick vegetation in a ditch to try and avoid arrest.

Bailey was soon afterwards arrested. The Grundy County Sheriff’s Department and Morris Police Department assisted in apprehending Bailey.

Five of the six alleged members of the Gaming Ring have now been apprehended. Syed Zaidi, 41, of Romeoville, Illinois, remains the lone member wanted in connection to the case.
