Danville, IL – A 24-year-old man was arrested in Vermilion County after police responded to a reported road rage incident early Sunday morning.

According to the Danville Police Department, officers were called at 2:44 a.m. on September 21 near the intersection of Main Street and Gilbert Street. Officers stopped two vehicles involved and identified the suspect as Luke Davis of Covington, Indiana.

Police said the incident began when the victim pulled into a gas station at Main and Gilbert to alert Davis about a taillight. Afterward, Davis allegedly began following the victim in his vehicle. Concerned, the victim called 911, and officers soon located both vehicles.

During the traffic stop, police reported seeing a firearm in plain view on the front passenger seat of Davis’s vehicle. The gun was found to be loaded. A further search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered a controlled substance, according to police.

Davis was arrested and taken to the Vermilion County Jail on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a controlled substance, and disorderly conduct.

Authorities emphasized that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. No further information about the incident is being released at this time.
