Lubbock, Texas – Evening storms are expected to taper off across the South Plains Tuesday night, giving way to mostly clear skies and refreshing lows in the 60s.

According to the National Weather Service in Lubbock, isolated showers and thunderstorms will linger early Tuesday evening, primarily affecting counties including Lubbock, Hale, and Floyd. Once the weather clears, overnight temperatures will dip to 62–66°F across the region.

Childress is expected to record the highest low at 66°, while Friona, Plainview, and Brownfield will cool to 62°. Lubbock and Aspermont should settle at a comfortable 65°. These mild conditions follow a humid afternoon punctuated by spotty storm cells across the Caprock.

Drivers are advised to remain cautious on rural roads like US 84 and US 62, where evening rainfall could lead to slick patches before drying out. Residents are encouraged to unplug sensitive electronics during storms and check flashlights or emergency kits in case of isolated outages.

Quiet, cooler nights are expected through midweek with no further severe weather on the immediate horizon. The NWS will issue updates if additional storm development occurs.
