Lake Charles, La. – Morning drivers across southeast Texas and southwest Louisiana encountered patchy fog Thursday, with visibility reduced in spots from Beaumont to Opelousas. The haze is expected to lift after sunrise, but the bigger concern is the rising heat and humidity that will linger through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, highs Thursday and Friday will push into the low to mid-90s, with heat indices reaching 100 to 105 degrees Friday afternoon. Dry air will briefly filter in, but high humidity from the Gulf will surge back by late Friday and Saturday, fueling a higher chance of storms.

Rain chances increase sharply Saturday afternoon, ranging from 15 to 35 percent, with the best coverage west of Lafayette. By Sunday, thunderstorm chances reach up to 50 percent in areas including Lake Charles, Beaumont, and Alexandria. Residents should prepare for heavy downpours, lightning, and possible road slowdowns during peak travel hours.

Travelers are urged to use caution during foggy morning commutes and avoid flooded roads if storms arrive this weekend.

Showers and storms remain possible into Monday, with more updates expected as the next front moves in.
