Colorado Springs, CO – Strong thunderstorms with the potential for flash flooding and damaging winds could impact the eastern Colorado plains by Saturday afternoon, while mountain areas brace for brief but intense downpours and lightning.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, storms will begin developing Saturday afternoon, especially across the eastern plains and areas west of the Continental Divide. Flash flooding is a key concern in urban zones, burn scars, and areas recently hit by heavy rainfall. Some storms may become severe, producing gusty winds up to 60 mph and large hail into the evening hours.

In Colorado Springs, there’s a 50% chance of storms on Saturday, mainly after 1 p.m., followed by a slight chance of evening rain before skies clear overnight. While rainfall amounts are expected to remain under a tenth of an inch, localized downpours could trigger brief flooding in low-lying areas.

Conditions will shift dramatically Sunday as dry air pushes in, bringing sunny skies and highs climbing into the upper 80s, with mid-90s expected by Tuesday. Mountain regions may still see isolated afternoon storms through early next week.

Weather alerts remain in effect through Saturday night. Additional advisories may be issued if conditions worsen.
