Cleveland, Ohio – Residents across northern Ohio should brace for dangerously high heat indices nearing 95 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit this Saturday, July 12. The combination of high temperatures and humid conditions will create significant heat risk throughout the region.

According to the US National Weather Service Cleveland OH, maximum heat indices of 95 to 100 degrees are possible on Saturday. Actual air temperatures are expected to reach the low 90s across the state, with the elevated humidity driving the “feels like” temperature much higher. This level of heat poses a moderate to major heat risk for most of northern Ohio, including major metropolitan areas.

Cities like Cleveland, Akron-Canton, Toledo, and Youngstown are all expected to experience heat indices at or above 95 degrees. This could impact outdoor activities, vulnerable populations, and those without access to air conditioning. Residents are advised to limit strenuous outdoor activities, stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, and check on elderly neighbors or those with pre-existing health conditions. Cooling centers may become available in some communities, so check local city resources.

This weekend’s heat marks a significant increase from earlier in the week and is similar to conditions experienced during past summer heatwaves. Be sure to charge cell phones and other devices in case of power outages, and never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles.

The elevated heat risk is expected to persist throughout Saturday, with conditions gradually easing by Sunday. Further advisories or warnings may be issued if conditions worsen.
