Burlington, Vermont – Cloudy skies across Vermont this morning will gradually give way to sunny breaks this afternoon, bringing a mix of mild and hot conditions across the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, high temperatures on Tuesday, July 8, will range from the upper 70s in the north to the upper 80s in the southern valleys, with dewpoints in the 60s making for a muggy feel in places like Brattleboro and Bennington. An isolated thunderstorm or quick shower may develop in southern Vermont later today.

Burlington will hover near 77°F with drier air, while Middlebury and Barre can expect mid-80s. Further south, residents in Springfield, Brattleboro, and Bennington could see highs climb to 88°F or higher by late afternoon.

While widespread storms aren’t expected, those in Windham and Bennington counties should stay alert for brief downpours or thunder through sunset. No widespread severe weather is forecast, but outdoor plans in southern zones may need quick adjustments.

Drier air returns overnight, with slightly cooler temperatures continuing into midweek.
