Los Angeles, California – Coastal fog could dampen early July 4th plans across Los Angeles County, but sunshine is expected by midday as a marine layer pattern settles in through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard, patchy fog will blanket East L.A. and much of the metro area through at least 11 a.m. daily, with gradual clearing and highs ranging from 79°F to 84°F through Sunday. Light winds up to 10 mph will shift from the southwest during the afternoon hours.

Independence Day will begin gray but turn mostly sunny by the afternoon, with highs near 81°F and slightly stronger coastal breezes. Communities from Santa Monica to East L.A. should expect limited visibility early, especially along the I-10 and I-5 corridors.

Drivers are urged to use caution during morning commutes and holiday travel. Fog-prone areas like Pasadena, Glendale, and Downtown L.A. may see delays and limited visibility until late morning hours. Firework events should benefit from clear evening skies and comfortable temperatures in the low 60s.

This pattern is typical of Southern California’s “June Gloom” lingering into early July. No rain is expected, and temperatures will gradually rise into next week.

Fog advisories are not currently in effect, but daily updates will be issued by the NWS as needed.
