Cheyenne, Wyoming – Winds will roar across southeast Wyoming Friday as Cheyenne heats up to 95°F with gusts reaching 40 mph by afternoon. The National Weather Service warns that dry conditions combined with strong southwest winds may elevate fire weather concerns through Friday evening, particularly along I-25 and U.S. Highway 85.

Southwest winds will increase mid-morning, with sustained speeds between 20 and 25 mph and isolated gusts as high as 45 mph. Outdoor burns are discouraged. Secure loose outdoor items, and expect sudden crosswinds on open stretches of highway.

Saturday remains dry and hot with a high near 92°F, while winds ease slightly from the west. However, by Sunday night, moisture increases with a chance of thunderstorms developing after 9 p.m. into early Monday. This begins a wetter pattern that continues into midweek, with a slight chance of showers and storms both Monday and Tuesday.

Temperatures will drop to the upper 60s Monday before climbing again Tuesday and Wednesday. While rainfall coverage remains low, localized downpours and lightning are possible during each event.

Residents should limit outdoor fire activity Friday, hydrate frequently, and monitor NWS updates for weekend storm timing. Power outages and wind-damaged trees could occur in exposed areas.

🌤️ Cheyenne 5-Day Forecast (June 20–24):

  • Friday: High 95°F. Breezy southwest winds gusting to 40 mph.
  • Saturday: High 92°F. Hot, lighter winds.
  • Sunday: High 83°F. Storm chance late.
  • Monday: High 69°F. Slight chance of PM storms.
