Divide, CO – A confirmed EF-1 tornado touched down Tuesday afternoon in Teller County, Colorado, delivering wind gusts of up to 106 miles per hour.

According to the US National Weather Service in Pueblo, the tornado hit around 12:41 p.m., two miles north-northeast of Divide. Officials are still analyzing drone footage to determine the tornado’s full track and impact area.

The storm uprooted several trees across a heavily wooded area, as seen in preliminary ground images released by the Weather Service. No injuries or major structural damage have been reported as of Wednesday morning.

EF-1 tornadoes, categorized on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, can produce winds between 86 and 110 mph, typically causing moderate damage such as broken branches, damaged roofs, and overturned mobile homes. The 106 mph wind gust recorded places this event near the top of that category.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the tornado maintained a consistent ground path or exhibited skipping behavior. “We are awaiting drone footage to make that call,” the Weather Service noted in its social media post.

Residents in the area are advised to remain cautious as officials continue assessing the aftermath and compiling an official storm report.

June is historically one of Colorado’s most active months for severe weather, and the National Weather Service continues to monitor conditions closely across the central Rockies. Updates are expected in the coming days as more data becomes available.
