Bangor, Maine – Gusty northwest winds are sweeping across Maine today, bringing cooler-than-normal temperatures and a chance for scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms—especially from the Katahdin region northward.
According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, daytime highs will struggle to reach the low 70s across central and southern zones, while much of northern Maine will remain in the mid to upper 60s. The strongest wind gusts are expected in open areas and higher elevations, making for a blustery afternoon statewide.
Caribou, Fort Kent, and Clayton Lake will see highs in the 60s before dropping into the 30s and low 40s tonight. Meanwhile, southern towns like Bangor and Bar Harbor could dip to near 50° by Friday morning, with continued dry but breezy conditions expected into the weekend.
Drivers are urged to be cautious on rural routes as isolated showers may reduce visibility. Residents in exposed areas should secure loose outdoor items due to wind gusts.
Cooler-than-average conditions will linger through Saturday. A few showers may develop near Bangor on Saturday, but the northern half of the state looks to remain dry.
