Green Bay, Wisconsin – Frost could surprise northeast Wisconsin late Saturday night into early Sunday, just ahead of Memorial Day gatherings and travel plans.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, patchy frost is expected across north-central and northeast Wisconsin, especially in rural and low-lying areas. The cold snap begins Saturday night, with temperatures falling into the low 40s and potentially dipping lower in some inland locations.

Cities along Highway 29 and Highway 41 — including Shawano, Waupaca, and Marinette — should prepare gardens, plants, and sensitive crops now. Saturday night will bring light winds and clear skies, creating ideal conditions for frost formation. Covering outdoor vegetation or bringing plants indoors is recommended.

Saturday’s daytime highs will hover near 62°F under mostly sunny skies. Sunday will be slightly warmer, reaching the mid-60s with bright sunshine. Memorial Day, Monday, looks mostly sunny with a high near 66°F in Green Bay, ideal for outdoor plans. Winds remain calm throughout the weekend.

Looking ahead, Tuesday may bring showers with a high near 67°F. Wednesday and Thursday will feel like early summer, with highs climbing to 72°F and continued sunshine.

Though frost threats fade after Sunday morning, residents are urged to monitor forecasts as late-season cold snaps can return. No spotter activation is needed, but continued updates from the National Weather Service are advised.
