WATSEKA – Iroquois County Health Department announced 43 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Monday.
“Many of Iroquois County’s most recent cases have been epidemiologically linked to large events in the community such as unofficial homecomings and weddings. ICPHD is asking the public to refrain from attending large gatherings as this is causing increased illness within our community. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.” Iroquois County Health officials reported Monday afternoon.
Iroquois County had averaged single-digit cases throughout much of the pandemic until last Monday, October 26th, when 15 new cases were reported in a single day. There have now been 577 cases to date in Iroquois County since March.
Among new cases announced Monday by health representatives include 27 women and 16 men. Ages 20-39 made up 20 of the 43 cases. At least one child less than 10 was included among Monday’s 43 new cases.
As of Monday afternoon, seven Iroquois County residents were hospitalized for the pandemic. Region 6 was placed in TIER 1 mitigation on Monday, which bans indoor dining locally.
