Bond set at $5 million for son of victim in Soldier Creek murder case

KANKAKEE – Kankakee PD reports a woman whose body was found decomposing in Kankakee died of multiple stab wounds Monday.

Police found the decomposing body of 49-year-old Ruth Collins last Wednesday morning under 400 block of North East Street in the Soldier Creek tunnel. Thursday, Police arrested Collins son, 29-year-old Elijah J. Harrell in connection with murder charges, including an attempt to conceal a homicide.

Harrell is now being held on a $5 million dollar bond at the Jerome Combs Detection Center in Kankakee.
