Burlington, Vt. – Scattered rain showers will move back into Vermont today, with on-and-off activity expected across much of the state and noticeably lighter rainfall in the Northeast Kingdom.

According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, rain chances will peak between noon and 6 p.m. Monday, with towns like Middlebury and Springfield seeing up to a 65% chance of precipitation. Burlington and Montpelier hold slightly lower odds, hovering around 45%. Meanwhile, areas north and east — including Newport and Saint Johnsbury — are expected to see fewer showers as drier air lingers in the region.

Temperatures remain seasonable, ranging from the upper 50s in Montpelier and Rutland to the low 60s around Burlington and Bennington. While widespread heavy rain is not expected, occasional brief showers could dampen travel or outdoor plans. Drivers should be prepared for slick roads in areas that see passing showers, particularly around midday into the evening commute.

Residents are encouraged to keep umbrellas handy and monitor local conditions, especially in regions with higher rain probabilities. No flood threats or major disruptions are anticipated, but rain chances will rise again midweek.

Showers will taper overnight, with more rain possible by Tuesday afternoon and heavier precipitation returning statewide by Wednesday.
