Duluth, Minnesota – After a quiet start to the weekend, severe thunderstorms could roll into northern Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin by Monday, potentially disrupting commutes and outdoor plans.
According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, skies will clear Friday with highs ranging from 48°F to 61°F. Saturday stays mostly sunny and mild, though temperatures will be cooler closer to Lake Superior. Rain chances return Sunday, with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms developing late in the day.
On Monday, the risk increases significantly. Widespread thunderstorms, some possibly severe, could bring strong winds, heavy rain, and lightning across the region. Highs may reach the low 70s in southern areas, with cooler readings near the lake. The weather shifts again Tuesday, with cooler air and lingering showers likely as highs dip back into the 40s and 50s.
Drivers should monitor local forecasts and prepare for slick roads or brief power outages if storms intensify. Keep devices charged and secure loose outdoor items.
Severe weather alerts may be issued Sunday night into Monday. Cooler, calmer conditions are expected to follow by midweek.
