Minneapolis, Minnesota – Rain and wind will complicate midweek plans across Minnesota as a stretch of unsettled spring weather hits the Twin Cities starting Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service, a chance of showers begins early Wednesday morning in Minneapolis, with daytime highs reaching 69°F under mostly sunny skies. Storm chances increase again Wednesday night into Thursday, when the region sees a 50% chance of rain and breezy conditions returning. Winds from the northeast could reach up to 10 mph, especially near open corridors like Interstate 35 and Interstate 94.

Rain becomes more widespread Thursday night into Friday, with a 60% chance of precipitation overnight. Cooler temps near 47°F will accompany wet roads and increased commute delays. Expect east winds around 10 mph Friday, with a chance for lingering showers into the morning hours. Friday afternoon brings some clearing, but temps will hold near 59°F, slightly below average for late April.

Drivers and commuters should prepare for slick conditions and reduced visibility on Thursday and Friday mornings. Stay off roads during heavy rain if possible, especially near low-lying areas and highway ramps prone to standing water.

Looking ahead, Saturday through Monday offers a break in the action:

  • Saturday: Sunny, high near 62°F
  • Sunday: 30% chance of rain, high around 67°F
  • Monday: Showers likely again, high of 73°F

More rain is possible by late Sunday and Monday. Updates will continue as weather alerts evolve.
