Springfield, MO – The National Weather Service in Springfield is warning that the colder temperatures expected tonight could lead to frost in parts of the Eastern Ozarks. Low temperatures in the area will range from the mid-30s to 40°F, with the coldest readings occurring in low-lying areas where frost is most likely.
According to the NWS, southerly winds will increase tonight, leading to warmer temperatures in the western portions of Missouri. However, in the Eastern Ozarks, temperatures will drop enough for frost to form, particularly in areas with clear skies. The NWS recommends that residents take precautions to protect sensitive plants by bringing them inside or covering them with protective materials.
Frost is expected to be localized, but those living in areas known for colder temperatures at night should be prepared for potential frost damage to vegetation.
