Seattle, WA – A winter storm warning has been issued for multiple regions in Washington State as heavy snow is expected to impact the Cascades. The National Weather Service has warned that conditions will worsen starting at 5 p.m. today, April 7, and continue through 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 8.
According to the National Weather Service, the Cascades of Whatcom and Skagit Counties could see up to 12 inches of snow, while Pierce and Lewis Counties may experience between 8 and 18 inches. Winds could gust up to 35 mph, adding to the travel difficulties and potential power outages.
Travelers in these areas are urged to prepare for hazardous conditions. If traveling is necessary, drivers should carry extra supplies such as a flashlight, food, and water, as well as be ready for possible power disruptions. The heavy snow and strong winds could significantly impact both highways and local roads, especially in mountainous regions such as Mount Rainier and Mount Baker.
The National Weather Service advises residents and travelers to stay updated on weather conditions and consider postponing trips if possible.
