Charleston, WV – A freeze warning has been issued for several areas in West Virginia tonight and into Tuesday morning as temperatures are expected to dip into the low to mid-20s. The National Weather Service warns that a widespread freeze will impact much of the state, with especially cold conditions in the southern and eastern regions.
According to the National Weather Service, the freeze warning will be in effect from 2 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Tuesday. Low temperatures across the region are forecast to reach as low as 20°F in some areas, posing a risk to tender plants and outdoor plumbing.
In addition to the freeze warnings, ongoing flood warnings in southeast Ohio, northeast Kentucky, and parts of West Virginia remain in effect. Authorities continue to urge motorists to exercise caution in flood-prone areas and remind residents to never drive through flooded roadways—“turn around, don’t drown.”
Farmers and homeowners are advised to take steps to protect their gardens, plants, and plumbing systems before the cold snap hits.
