Tornadoes Confirmed in Northern Alabama Following April Storms

Huntsville, AL – A series of EF-1 tornadoes have been confirmed in Northern Alabama following severe overnight storms on April 5-6. The tornadoes impacted several communities, including Sheffield, Tuscumbia, Aqua Vista, Center Star, Lost Cove (TN), and Holiday Shores.

The National Weather Service reported that the tornadoes ranged in strength, with wind speeds peaking at up to 105 mph. The Sheffield tornado, which struck between 10:18 and 10:30 p.m., had a path length of 8.43 miles and a maximum width of 275 yards. No fatalities were reported, although five injuries were sustained in Tuscumbia.

The Center Star tornado followed shortly after, touching down between 10:45 and 10:53 p.m. with winds of 90 mph. This tornado covered 5.76 miles and did not result in any injuries.

Meanwhile, the Aqua Vista tornado, which occurred from 10:44 to 10:57 p.m., had winds reaching 95 mph and covered a path of 12.45 miles. Like the others, no injuries were reported.

The National Weather Service continues to assess damage across the region and provide updates. Residents in affected areas are urged to stay informed and follow local emergency instructions.
