Jackson, MS – Three tornadoes have been confirmed in Mississippi following storms on the morning of March 31, 2025, with the most significant one striking Pine Burr. The tornado, rated EF-2, caused peak winds of 135 mph, traveling 7.4 miles with a maximum width of 300 yards. Fortunately, there were no injuries or fatalities reported.
According to the National Weather Service, two additional tornadoes touched down in Lowndes County. The first, an EF-0, lasted just a minute, from 6:01 to 6:02 AM CDT, with winds reaching 85 mph. It had a path length of 0.7 miles and a width of 60 yards. Another EF-1 tornado hit Steens between 6:07 and 6:15 AM CDT, with winds peaking at 90 mph. It traveled 6.2 miles, covering a width of 300 yards, also causing no injuries or fatalities.
These preliminary reports, issued Monday morning, highlight the power of the storms, but officials are emphasizing the relatively limited damage and lack of casualties. Emergency response teams are continuing to assess affected areas.
