Cincinnati, OH – Severe storms are expected to sweep across southwest and central Ohio late Sunday into early Monday, bringing threats of damaging winds, hail, and the potential for tornadoes.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, a Level 3 (Enhanced) risk has been issued for much of western and central Ohio, including Cincinnati, Dayton, and Richmond. The timing of the storms varies by region, beginning as early as 5 p.m. Sunday near the Indiana border and lasting through 2 a.m. Monday in areas east of Columbus.

Forecasters warn of the possibility of a few tornadoes, with the most widespread and intense activity likely between 8 p.m. and midnight. Large hail and wind gusts exceeding 60 mph are also possible during this time.

Residents are urged to have multiple ways to receive weather alerts, especially overnight. Devices with loud alarms or weather radios are recommended to wake sleeping individuals if a warning is issued.

Preparedness tips include identifying a sturdy shelter area, preferably the lowest level of your home, and reviewing family communication plans ahead of time.

This storm system could disrupt travel and power in impacted regions. Stay tuned to local news or weather.gov/ILN for updates and alert changes.
