Philadelphia, PA – A warm spring Saturday will give way to a cooler, cloudier Sunday across the Delaware Valley, with temperatures dropping by as much as 20 degrees in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a backdoor cold front will move southward into the region late Saturday night, shifting weekend conditions dramatically. Highs Saturday are expected to range from the upper 70s to low 80s across southeastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and parts of Delaware. However, by Sunday, highs will only reach the low 60s in northeastern Pennsylvania and northwestern New Jersey, with southeastern areas staying in the low to mid-70s.

Cloud cover is expected to increase Sunday, with a chance of scattered afternoon showers across northeastern PA and parts of NW NJ. Despite the drop in temperatures, no major hazards are currently forecast for the day.

Residents should prepare for the next shift in weather as a stronger cold front arrives late Monday, bringing showers and the potential for severe thunderstorms into the evening. Officials advise monitoring weather.gov/phi for updates and to stay alert for changes in the early week forecast.
