Kankakee, IL – Local residents will have the chance to make a lifesaving impact this spring as Bishop McNamara Catholic High School hosts a community blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross.

According to the school’s announcement, the drive will take place Friday, April 11, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the school’s gym, located at 550 W. Brookmont Blvd. in Kankakee. Donors must be at least 16 years old to participate.

Organizers emphasize the critical and ongoing need for blood donations. Every two to three seconds, someone in the U.S. requires a blood transfusion, yet supply shortages remain a concern. Volunteers are urged to schedule appointments in advance to ensure efficient processing and reduce wait times.

The American Red Cross encourages all eligible individuals to donate, particularly those with universal or rare blood types. Donors are asked to bring a valid ID, stay hydrated, and eat a healthy meal beforehand.

This event supports both local and national healthcare systems, and participation contributes to a vital public health effort. Walk-ins will be accepted as space allows, but appointments are strongly recommended.
