Philadelphia, PA – Thick fog, wind gusts, and overnight rain could complicate Philadelphia’s midweek travel as spring weather brings shifting conditions statewide.
According to the National Weather Service, dense fog reduced visibility to 0.25 miles early Tuesday near Philadelphia International Airport. A light wind at 5 mph combined with 100% humidity is likely to persist into Wednesday morning. Drivers along I-95 should use caution, especially in early morning hours when fog is at its thickest.
Rain chances increase Tuesday night into early Wednesday, with a 30% chance of showers mainly after 2 a.m. By Wednesday afternoon, conditions will dry slightly with a high near 54°F and west winds between 10 and 15 mph. Morning commuters should remain alert to wet roads and low visibility.
Clear skies return Thursday with a cooler high of 53°F, followed by mostly cloudy skies and a mild 59°F on Friday. Another round of possible rain returns Friday night into the weekend, with a 30% chance of showers Saturday. Sunday and Monday bring increased rain activity, with Monday’s showers likely and precipitation chances up to 60%.
Daytime highs throughout the week hover in the 50s and 60s, slightly below average for late March. Cooler nights remain in the 30s and 40s, requiring layers in the early morning hours. Drivers should monitor PennDOT alerts for traffic advisories and updates, especially during overnight transitions.
As spring unfolds, unstable weather patterns will persist. Keep umbrellas handy, drive with care, and expect changing skies into early next week.
