Fairfax, VA – A warm and mostly sunny Wednesday will give Northern Virginia a taste of spring before showers move in Thursday. Temperatures are expected to climb into the mid-70s Wednesday, making it the warmest day of the week.

According to the National Weather Service, winds will shift south at 5-10 mph, with gusts reaching 20 mph. The warmth won’t last, as a cold front moves in late Thursday, bringing an 80% chance of rain. Showers will begin in the afternoon and continue into the evening, affecting major roadways like I-95 and I-66.

Thursday night will see temperatures drop to the mid-30s, with showers tapering off before midnight. By Friday, sunny skies return, but it will be noticeably cooler, with highs only reaching the mid-50s.

Looking ahead, the first weekend of spring brings mild temperatures. Saturday will be partly sunny with a high of 63°F, while Sunday sees a slight cooldown to 60°F. Another round of rain is expected Monday, with a 60% chance of showers.
