Nashville, TN – Residents of Nashville and surrounding areas should prepare for severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, bringing the possibility of damaging winds, heavy rain, and hail up to one inch in diameter.

According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, the storm threat has been elevated to a slight risk. The primary concerns include localized flooding due to very heavy rain and hail that could reach up to one inch in diameter. Damaging winds are also a significant threat, capable of causing property damage and downed trees. The storms are expected to impact the area between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. as a storm line moves in from the west.

Localized flooding is a particular concern, especially in low-lying areas and places with poor drainage. Residents should be on the lookout for quickly rising waters and avoid driving through flooded roads. The heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding in some areas, making travel hazardous.
