Lexington County, SC – A Lexington County man has been arrested after deputies said he allegedly impersonated a police officer and carried a weapon onto school property over multiple years.
According to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, 41-year-old Christopher Patrick Brewer was charged in connection with incidents involving Beechwood Middle School in Lexington.
Investigators allege Brewer carried a personally owned handgun while at the school between 2022 and February 2026. Authorities said Brewer allegedly presented himself as a law enforcement officer when entering the school.
“Brewer would present himself as a law enforcement officer when he entered the school,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said in a statement.
Officials said Brewer had previously been certified as a constable through the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division at one time but had not served as a constable since 2019.
According to deputies, security camera footage showed Brewer inside the school while carrying his personally owned handgun.
Brewer was arrested Friday morning at his home. Authorities said he was later released from the Lexington County Detention Center on a personal recognizance bond.
The sheriff’s department has not released additional details regarding how often Brewer allegedly entered the school or whether any school staff or students were directly threatened during the incidents.
The investigation remains ongoing.
