Yorkville, IL: One Officer Hurt, Suspect Arrested After Violent Property Damage Report

Yorkville, IL – A Yorkville police officer sustained injuries Saturday evening after a confrontation with an allegedly combative individual on Yellowstone Avenue, according to a community alert issued by the Yorkville Police Department.

Police said officers were called around 5:40 p.m. to the 500 block of Yellowstone Avenue for reports of someone actively damaging property. Upon arrival, officers found a subject carrying a large metal object who allegedly refused commands and threw the object at an officer before becoming physically combative.

Authorities report that after a brief struggle, the suspect was taken into custody. One officer was injured during the incident and received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. The offender was not injured and was transported to the Kendall County Jail, police said.

Investigators noted that charges are pending as the case remains under review. According to police, all evidence indicates the individual acted alone and that there is no active threat to the public at this time.
