Lebanon, ME – A search for two wanted individuals in Lebanon escalated into a multi-hour pursuit Wednesday after one suspect repeatedly fled into the woods, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded around 11 a.m. to a home on Creamery Hill Road to locate two people with active warrants. According to the sheriff’s office, Jonathan Gillis, 23, allegedly ran into the woods upon their arrival. A second individual, Tanya Gouin, 40, was found hiding inside the home and was arrested without incident.

A K-9 from the Rochester Police Department responded to help track Gillis, but he was not immediately found. A short time later, deputies observed him behind the Dunkin’ Donuts on Carl Broggi Highway, where he allegedly fled a second time into the woods.

Multiple agencies then established a perimeter in the area. At about 1 p.m., deputies located Gillis on Center Road and arrested him without further incident. According to officials, he was allegedly in possession of crystal methamphetamine at the time of arrest.

Gouin was booked on two warrants for theft by unauthorized taking/transfer, with bail set at $5,000. Gillis was booked on a probation revocation warrant, a theft warrant, and an additional charge for unlawful possession of a scheduled drug (crystal methamphetamine). His bail was also set at $5,000. Both remain in custody.
