Jackson, WY – A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect through 6 p.m. Monday for Yellowstone National Park and the Teton and Gros Ventre Mountains, where forecasters are calling for heavy snow and strong winds through the start of the week.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Riverton, snowfall totals are expected to reach 6 to 12 inches across most of Yellowstone, with localized totals up to 15 inches near the park’s Southern Entrance. Meanwhile, the Teton and Gros Ventre Mountains could see 10 to 18 inches of snow, with wind gusts up to 45 mph making travel especially dangerous.

“Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous,” the NWS warned early Sunday. Motorists are urged to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly across Teton and Togwotee Passes, where conditions could deteriorate quickly.

The heaviest snowfall is expected Sunday into early Monday, with lingering snow showers and blowing snow into the evening. Travelers are advised to keep emergency kits with food, water, and flashlights in their vehicles in case of delays or road closures.
