Yakima, WA – The Yakima County Sheriff’s Office has welcomed a new four-legged deputy, K9 Khaos, a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois trained in tracking and apprehension.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Khaos comes from the Netherlands and was purchased from Alabama K9. The department confirmed that Khaos recently arrived in Yakima and began training with his handler, Deputy Sandall. The duo is expected to complete certification and begin patrol duties within the next few months.
The department credited several local partners for helping make Khaos’s acquisition possible. Lucky Dog donated a new kennel setup, while Baxter Construction LLC and Helliesen Lumber & Supply Co. provided building materials for the K9 facilities. Eastwise Pet also contributed by supplying premium food for the department’s K9s.
Officials gave special thanks to The K9 Foundation Yakima Valley, led by Fern Hart, for coordinating donations and fully funding the purchase of the new police dog. The foundation has supported K9 efforts across the region through community fundraising.
The Sheriff’s Office said Khaos is settling in well — and already “eating like a king.”
