Wyoming – Snow and gusty winds continue to affect parts of northwest Wyoming Friday, creating hazardous travel conditions across several mountain ranges through the afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Riverton, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 5 p.m. MST Friday for the Teton and Gros Ventre Mountains and the Salt River and Wyoming Ranges.
Forecasters expect additional snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches, with locally higher totals up to 12 inches possible in the Teton Mountains and the Salt River Range. Winds gusting between 25 and 35 mph are forecast through the morning hours before gradually decreasing later in the afternoon.
Officials warn that travel could be difficult, especially on mountain passes and higher-elevation roads where snow accumulation and blowing snow may reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact both the Friday morning and evening commutes, particularly for those traveling through or near mountain corridors.
Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and use caution when traveling in snow-covered areas. Road conditions may change rapidly as snowfall intensity varies across elevations and terrain.
The National Weather Service encourages travelers to monitor updated snowfall forecasts at weather.gov/riw/winter and check current road conditions through the Wyoming Department of Transportation at wyoroad.info before heading out.
For commuters, outdoor workers, and travelers in northwest Wyoming, the advisory highlights continued winter driving hazards through the end of the day.
