Riverton, WY – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon Monday for multiple western Wyoming mountain ranges, including the Wind River Mountains, Salt River Range, Wyoming Range, and Absaroka Mountains, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Riverton.
Forecasters say heavy mountain snow and gusty winds will continue through early Monday, creating dangerous travel conditions across high-elevation roads and passes. The Wind River Mountains are expected to receive 12 to 18 inches above 10,000 feet, with 6 to 12 inches between 9,000 and 10,000 feet. Lower elevations could see 2 to 6 inches, while Union Pass may total 4 to 8 inches and South Pass about 2 to 4 inches.
The Salt River and Wyoming Ranges could pick up 6 to 14 inches above 8,000 feet, with 2 to 5 inches near Salt River Pass. The Absaroka Mountains may see 6 to 12 inches, accompanied by wind gusts up to 60 mph, leading to blowing snow and low visibility.
