A winter storm warning has been issued across Wyoming, targeting Converse County, the North Snowy Range, and the Shirley Mountains with significant snowfall expected. Authorities warn that hazardous travel conditions will impact local highways, especially Interstate 25, with potential road closures and delays. Residents are urged to prepare for icy roadways, limited visibility, and to avoid unnecessary travel if possible.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Cheyenne, snowfall is anticipated to intensify Tuesday night into Wednesday, bringing up to 90% chances of snowfall across Cheyenne, Casper, and surrounding areas. Accumulations are expected to range significantly, with more than two inches likely in many areas. Central Carbon County has also been included in the winter weather advisory, signaling increased snowfall risk for residents and travelers alike.

The forecast shows temperatures plummeting Tuesday night to lows of 27°F, with wind speeds reaching up to 20 mph, creating a heightened risk of frostbite in exposed areas. Wednesday will see a continued snowfall chance, with highs barely reaching 38°F. By Wednesday night, temperatures are set to drop further, with the possibility of additional snow into early Thursday morning.

Looking further into the week, residents can expect cold but clearer conditions by Thursday, with daytime highs in the low 50s. Friday and Saturday should bring a slight warming trend with highs near 57°F, though chilly overnight lows will persist. The NWS urges residents to stay informed on the latest weather updates and road conditions, especially for those traveling on major highways like I-25. Spotter activation may not be necessary, but residents should monitor alerts closely and prepare for severe winter weather conditions in the days ahead.
