Cheyenne, WY – Residents across southeastern Wyoming are preparing for a blustery start to the week, with strong winds and sunny skies dominating the forecast. Wind gusts are expected to reach 65 mph in some areas, particularly along I-25 and I-80, posing challenges for drivers and high-profile vehicles.
According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, Monday will bring mostly sunny skies with a high of 49°F. However, wind speeds will increase by the afternoon, reaching 20 to 25 mph with gusts as high as 35 mph. Conditions will worsen Monday night as winds strengthen to 25 to 30 mph, with gusts reaching 45 mph.
Travelers on I-25 and I-80 should remain cautious, as high winds can make driving hazardous, particularly for semi-trucks and other large vehicles. Officials recommend delaying travel in wind-prone areas if possible and securing outdoor items to prevent damage from gusts.
Looking ahead, Tuesday through Thursday will continue the pattern of sunny but breezy weather. Tuesday’s high will be near 43°F with wind gusts up to 40 mph, while Wednesday will remain cool at 43°F with lighter winds. By Thursday, temperatures will rise to a warmer 57°F, though breezy conditions will persist.
