Riverton, Wyo. – Thunderstorms could rattle parts of Fremont County by Tuesday afternoon as a summer system brings a 30% chance of showers and gusty winds to Riverton and surrounding highways, including US-26. Wind gusts could hit 20 mph by mid-afternoon, creating visibility issues and elevated fire concerns in dry areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Riverton, scattered thunderstorms are possible after 3 p.m. Tuesday, with daytime highs reaching near 90°F. Winds will shift from the southeast before becoming breezy out of the west. Tuesday night carries a 50% chance of more thunderstorms before 3 a.m., especially near the Wind River Basin, with gusts as high as 21 mph.

By Wednesday, conditions shift dramatically. Breezy east winds return, and temperatures drop to a high of 79°F — over 10 degrees cooler than Monday. A slight chance of thunderstorms lingers into the afternoon, followed by mostly clear skies Wednesday night and a low around 51°F.
