Cheyenne, WY – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Cheyenne has issued an updated forecast indicating that monsoonal moisture will make a return to Southeast Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle starting Sunday. This weather pattern is expected to bring significant changes, including afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms.

According to the NWS, Saturday will remain hot and breezy with temperatures reaching up to 97°F east of I-25. However, conditions will shift on Sunday as monsoonal moisture increases, leading to afternoon and evening storms with temperatures slightly cooler, ranging between 82°F and 89°F.

The unsettled weather will continue into Monday and Tuesday with persistent storm activity, especially in the afternoons and evenings. Cheyenne to Laramie could see concentrated storm action, while other areas might remain dry during this period. High temperatures will hover around the mid to upper 80s.

By Wednesday, another surge of monsoonal moisture will bring more widespread showers and thunderstorms across the region, with temperatures ranging from 83°F to 89°F. The NWS advises residents to stay alert for potential severe thunderstorms during this time, particularly in the afternoons and evenings.

Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and prepared for the possibility of severe weather, including heavy rain and strong winds, especially in areas that are prone to flash flooding. The return of monsoonal moisture is crucial as the region continues to experience drought conditions, making this rain welcome, despite the potential for severe storms.
