Riverton, WY – A powerful early-season winter storm is set to impact northwest Wyoming beginning late Saturday night, bringing heavy snow, strong winds, and dangerous travel conditions through Monday evening.

According to the National Weather Service Riverton, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 11 PM Saturday through 6 PM Monday for Yellowstone National Park and the Teton and Gros Ventre Mountains.

Forecasts call for 6–12 inches of snow in Yellowstone, with up to 15 inches possible near the Southern Entrance. The Teton and Gros Ventre Mountains could see 10–18 inches of accumulation. Winds may gust up to 45 mph, reducing visibility and creating hazardous driving conditions — especially across Teton and Togwotee Passes.

Lighter totals of 1–3 inches are expected around Mammoth, while the heaviest snow will fall in higher elevations. Travelers are urged to use caution, check for road closures or chain requirements, and keep emergency supplies such as food, water, and flashlights in their vehicles.
