Cheyenne, Wyo. – Strong thunderstorms are set to roll across southeastern Wyoming Friday afternoon, bringing the potential for heavy rainfall, damaging winds, and hail — especially north of the North Platte River Valley.
According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, scattered showers and storms will begin developing Friday and continue into the evening. While most activity will remain isolated, a few storms may intensify, producing localized hazards such as large hail and strong wind gusts. Areas including Douglas, Wheatland, and Torrington could see the brunt of the storm.
Road travel along I-25 and U.S. 85 could become hazardous during storm peaks, particularly near Glendo and Chugwater. Residents in Laramie County and Platte County should prepare for possible power flickers or brief outages caused by wind or lightning. Charge devices early and avoid outdoor plans this evening.
A second round of thunderstorms is expected Saturday afternoon. While coverage may be less widespread than Friday, isolated storms could still bring large hail and gusty winds. The overall storm risk remains “marginal,” but changing conditions could prompt advisories.
