Cheyenne, Wyo. – Residents across southeast Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle should prepare for potentially severe storms this afternoon, with threats of hail and damaging winds likely along the I-25 corridor.
According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, a Level 1 Marginal Risk is in effect through 11 p.m. Wednesday, with storms expected to develop between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. The eastern Nebraska Panhandle, including Alliance, could see hail up to the size of quarters and wind gusts over 60 mph. In Wyoming, thunderstorms may bring heavy rain and small hail.
Localized flooding, poor visibility, and slick roads are possible during peak travel hours. The most significant impacts are expected near I-25, where storms could linger into the evening before clearing the region.
Drivers are urged to monitor weather alerts, avoid unnecessary travel during peak storm times, and secure outdoor objects. Keep cell phones charged and avoid high-profile vehicles on open roads during wind bursts.
Storm activity is expected to subside late tonight, but additional alerts may follow if conditions worsen. Stay tuned for updates from NWS Cheyenne and local emergency agencies.
