Cheyenne, Wyo. – Strong thunderstorms could roll through eastern Wyoming Friday afternoon, bringing the risk of damaging wind gusts and hail between 2 and 7 p.m., especially from Cheyenne to Lusk.

According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, a marginal risk for severe storms covers a broad area east of the I-25 corridor, including Torrington, Wheatland, and Douglas. Storms could intensify quickly, with the main threats being 60 mph winds and small to quarter-size hail.

While most storms will remain isolated, a few could strengthen rapidly. Outdoor plans in Niobrara, Goshen, and Platte counties may be disrupted, and drivers along U.S. Highways 85 and 20 should prepare for reduced visibility and slick roads. Residents should secure loose objects, stay weather-aware, and ensure they have multiple ways to receive warnings.

This is not a widespread outbreak, but localized damage is possible. The threat should diminish after 7 p.m., with no additional severe weather expected into the weekend unless conditions change.
