RIVERTON, Wyo. – Under a quiet November sky this morning, the Wind River Valley wakes to calm air and starlight. But a pattern shift is already building to the west—one that will replace the current stretch of warmth with a colder, unsettled start to next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Riverton, Thursday will bring abundant sunshine and highs near 66°F, followed by another warm, breezy day Friday near 68°F. Winds could gust up to 25 mph across Fremont County as a strong ridge holds briefly over central Wyoming. That ridge breaks down Saturday, allowing cooler air to spill in from the north while clouds begin to increase.

By late Sunday, moisture from the Pacific Northwest will reach western Wyoming, bringing a slight chance of showers to Riverton and the surrounding valleys. Rain may mix with snow Monday morning as temperatures fall into the upper 20s, signaling an early “winter tease” for the region. While accumulation looks light—under an inch in town—higher elevations near South Pass and the Wind River Range could see slick, snow-covered roads.

Drivers traveling along U.S. 26 and WY-789 should watch for changing conditions late Sunday into Monday. The shift will also mark a dramatic cooldown, with highs dropping from near 70°F Friday to the low 40s by Tuesday.

Meanwhile, faint effects from the rare G4 solar storm that illuminated northern skies Tuesday night may still cause brief GPS interference in Wyoming through this morning, though most systems remain stable.
