Cheyenne, Wyoming – Record-breaking heat is rewriting the books across Wyoming and the High Plains, with temperatures soaring as much as 14 degrees above previous records and peaking at 82°F in Cheyenne.

According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, multiple locations shattered daily high temperature records Wednesday, including Sidney reaching 92°F and Scottsbluff climbing to 92°F. Laramie and Rawlins also tied or broke monthly March records, with highs pushing into the upper 70s—levels rarely seen this early in the season.

The warmth didn’t stop overnight. Laramie recorded a low of 49°F, an unusually high minimum more typical of midsummer than March, signaling how persistent this heat event has been across southeast Wyoming.

Communities including Cheyenne, Laramie, and Rawlins continue to experience temperatures well above seasonal norms, increasing snowmelt and elevating early-season fire concerns in dry areas.

Residents are encouraged to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor burning, and remain aware of rapidly changing conditions as cooler air begins to move in.

Temperatures will gradually trend lower into Friday, but additional record challenges remain possible before the cooldown fully takes hold.
