Cheyenne, WY – A fall storm system is moving into southeastern Wyoming, bringing a mix of rain, mountain snow, and sharply colder temperatures through early next week, according to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne.

Forecasters say precipitation will spread across the region Sunday into Monday, with mountain areas west of Interstate 25 likely seeing accumulating snow, while lower elevations experience rain or a rain-snow mix. High temperatures will range from the 50s and 60s Sunday to 40s and 50s by Monday, with overnight lows dipping into the 30s.

By Tuesday and Wednesday, a strong cold front will usher in dry but much colder air, with morning lows falling into the 20s across much of southeast Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle. The weather service notes that widespread subfreezing temperatures could impact outdoor plumbing, gardens, and early livestock operations.

Conditions are expected to remain mostly sunny and dry from midweek through Thursday, though mornings will remain brisk. Residents are advised to prepare for freezing overnight conditions and stay alert for slick travel in mountain passes early in the week.
