Cheyenne, WY – Residents across southeast Wyoming will feel a touch of winter this week as the National Weather Service in Cheyenne forecasts blustery winds and plunging temperatures beginning Tuesday.
According to the NWS, Tuesday will bring highs in the 30s and 40s with northwest winds gusting 30 to 45 mph, making conditions feel significantly colder. As winds diminish Tuesday evening, temperatures will drop rapidly overnight, setting up the coldest morning of the season by Wednesday.
Morning lows are expected to fall into the teens and lower 20s, with clear skies and calm winds allowing for widespread frost and hard freeze conditions. Forecasters urge residents to protect sensitive plants, outdoor plumbing, and pets from the bitter cold.
This cold snap follows several days of windy, dry conditions typical of late October across the High Plains. Temperatures are expected to slowly moderate by late week as winds ease and high pressure settles over the region.
