Rawlins, Wyo. – Thousands of Carbon County residents are waking up in the dark Monday after a widespread overnight power outage shut down service across the region.
According to the Carbon County Office of Emergency Management, the outage began shortly after midnight and has left large portions of the county without electricity. Officials are urging anyone who relies on oxygen or medical equipment that requires power to immediately call the county’s emergency line at 307-328-7777 for assistance.
Crews have not provided a restoration timeline, but emergency management teams said they are coordinating with utility providers to determine the cause. The outage is affecting multiple communities, including Rawlins, Saratoga, and Sinclair, where residents reported losing power before 1 a.m.
Authorities are asking residents to limit travel, conserve battery-powered devices, and check on neighbors, especially elderly individuals who may be more vulnerable. Carbon County schools and businesses could see disruptions Monday morning if power is not restored quickly.
Updates will be provided as restoration estimates become available. Emergency officials warn that additional advisories may be issued if service remains down into the day.
